Kevin Cheng
MScPT
Physiotherapist
Kevin takes a client-centred and comprehensive assessment approach where he strives to understand the movement goals, expectations of his clients, and identifies the source of pain and dysfunction. He collaborates with his clients to develop treatment plans to achieve their goals. He enjoys helping his clients return to the activities they love to do, whether it’s returning to playing sports, lifting weights without limitations, or being able to play with their kids again. Kevin’s passion is empowering his clients with an understanding of their pain or symptoms, ways to manage it, and a path to recovery and injury prevention. Treatments often consist of manual therapy of soft-tissues and joints, motor control retraining, customized corrective exercises, mobility techniques, and activity modification.
After many years of martial arts, sports, athletics, and dance, Kevin demonstrates that he has a passion for movement of all kinds. He employs this passion for movement and interest in helping individuals achieve their movement goals through Physiotherapy. He continues to participate in professional development and learn different ways to move, in order to continually improve his Physiotherapy practice for his clients.
Kevin is a versatile mover. He has practiced and competed in martial arts since he was 8 years old. He has earned his 2nd-Degree Black Belt in Karate and his Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He has a background of teaching and competing in swimming. Kevin also taps into his musical side and enjoys Hip Hop dance, Salsa, and Bachata. His other interests include volleyball, golf, lifting weights, snowboarding, attending concerts, traveling, and food adventures.
Favourite muscle group: The hamstrings muscle group is Kevin’s favourite muscle group since it is so versatile in its function. It extends the hip, bends the knee, and rotates the lower leg, as well as providing pelvis and knee control. It’s a very long and busy muscle group, hence it often gets into trouble. Kevin loves to help his patients bring these overwhelmed hamstrings to a happier state.
